Waiting
First of all, the good news: my brother is doing well under the circumstances. However, I haven't received any responses from the publishers in Switzerland or Germany, leaving me disappointed with only advertisements, invoices, and reminders in my mailbox. On a positive note, I'm making good progress with »Kabbala«, aiming to complete the first draft by May, and I'm reconsidering the title of my next project from »The Dying of the Swans« to something more original.
Tsunami
The term »tsunami« was unknown on Christmas Day, but now a devastating wave has impacted over a dozen countries, causing immense loss of life. Amid this disaster, my brother narrowly escaped death, and a second publisher expressed interest in my manuscript 'Mal', making me reflect on Sting's cautionary words about success and personal crises. Balancing the desire for success with the need to help those affected by fate's harsh blows, I remain determined to live from telling my stories, believing in their power and value.
Aragorn
A month has passed, and my brother had a benign brain tumor removed, coinciding with the news that a publisher is interested in my book 'The Mark.' This juxtaposition of potential success and personal crisis reminds me of Sting's words about success being accompanied by deep, personal crises. Despite the excitement, my focus remains on basic needs and writing, realizing that while hunger is tough, almost losing my brother is far worse.
A women's magazine and a pleasant phone call
On November 17, I had a promising conversation with a Swiss publisher who discovered my site through feedback requested in the Brigitte forum. I sent her additional material and a synopsis, hoping for a positive outcome. Reflecting on recent events, including a Marine's execution of a wounded Iraqi and former police vice-president Wolfgang Daschner's threat of torture, I question how long our democratic, liberal values can withstand such extreme actions.
Superman - The Animated Series (1996)
Superman - The Animated Series (1996-2000) is one of the most beloved entries in the pantheon of DC animated shows. Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, the same team behind Batman: The Animated Series, created this show, which is considered the pinnacle of animated superhero storytelling. It ran for three seasons and 54 episodes, airing from 1996 to 2000. The series definitively established a version of Superman that resonated with a generation of viewers. It did so by focusing on the Man of Steel's core values and his struggles with external villains and personal dilemmas.
The first steps
I worked on my website by posting messages in guestbooks on other sites to attract attention and gauge reactions. With advice from a friend named Esther, I resolved an issue with my homepage design, which now features a silhouette gazing at a snowy Lüneburg under a full moon, resembling a scene from 'Mal.' Additionally, I shared my enjoyment of a line from 'American Werewolf' and wished everyone a spooky and fun-filled Halloween.
Star Wars (1977)
Initially, I didn't want to buy it, but the bonus DVD captivated me with its behind-the-scenes look at the original Star Wars series and insights into the new trilogy's shortcomings. Lucas's superhuman battles to create Star Wars and his current unrestrained creativity inspire me, as the collections of Star Wars and Indiana Jones on my shelf whisper, »Now it's YOUR turn.« Despite only 200 people having seen my film, the appreciation from a few viewers and the chills my friend got from 'The Mark' motivate me to keep going, aiming to create something as impactful as Star Wars.
Searching for a Publisher
I am searching online for publishers and agents to support my project, 'The Mark,' and I often come across writings by Anglo-Saxon authors that resonate with me. I've set a target to approach 30 publishers and 30 agents, and if they all decline, I'll keep trying and encourage others to persevere as well. Inspired by the phrase "Carpe Diem" from Dead Poets Society and advice from a German filmmaker to find my own style, I remain committed to my unique journey as a writer and filmmaker.
Welcome, Folks!
I've finally managed to update my page amidst a busy period and I'm currently focused on revising my latest project, 'The Mark.' Excitingly, my short film 's1lence' was showcased at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, and I'm deeply grateful to Lukas with the opportunity from Lukas Jötten and his invaluable support; you can check out his inspiring work at [Sonderfilm](http://sonderfilm.de). An interesting anecdote from making 's1lence' is that I had to cut up my sofa bed to create a stunt and the stunt mat, highlighting the dedication and resourcefulness required in filmmaking.
