Evil itself

The signed contract is now on its way to Switzerland. So now there is no turning back. I still find it all very surreal. "Surreal, but beautiful." to quote Hugh Grant in 'Notting Hill'.

My first reader Esther gave me some important advice about the 'skin': "You should look into historical ritual murders."

Because here's the thing: My stories always have a tendency to drift into the supernatural when I write them. But I can't allow this under any circumstances with 'Skin'. The publisher wants a thriller from me and should now also get a thriller. In this regard, I have also dealt with the construction of thriller scripts. In horror, evil is a supernatural, indomitable force. In thrillers, it's 'just' a human being that the hero beats with wits, overcoming his personal shortcomings, and evil's 'own' weapons.Through Esther's hint, I did a little research and promptly found what I was looking for in history. Now I already know WHY my serial killer murders like this and not otherwise ... and believe me, it's not going to be a pretty ...
