Interview - The SkIn gets under your skin
The 'Bobinger Stadtzeitung' published a short article about me on the occasion of my reading in Bobingen.
READING | Author Christian Heinke reads from his first book in Bobingen and talks about his experiences as a writer so far.
Bobingen. »Beauty is power. Beauty is a curse. Beauty can cost you your skin.« - These are the words on the cover of Christian Heinke’s book; ‘Die-Haut’. At the Unteres Schlösschen in Bobingen, the audience could listen to the first work by the Bochum-based author. Unfortunately, only a few people interested in books turned up to listen to the author himself, who read out individual passages from his book.
The book tells the story of supermodel Katherine Williams, who suffered burns on 60 percent of her skin in a plane crash. Using a new procedure, they restore their skin. But now a serial killer is hunting down her catwalk colleagues. But his actual target is Katherine ...
Christian Heinke’s work is exciting and can be quite brutal at times. At the end of the reading, the author was available to answer questions over a glass of wine from the Weltladen catering service. He satisfied the curiosity of the audience, who were keen to find out how he came up with such material. »I don’t remember why I chose this topic, but it’s always a combination of several circumstances that lead me to it,« explained Heinke, who wrote his novel partly in a cafe and partly on the train on the way to and from work. He himself is more of a cheerful person, hates violence and finds it difficult to imagine himself in reality, he said. The book’s sales are doing well, and the publisher is pleased. Even before publication, the author posted small excerpts on the Internet and formed a fan community for the up-and-coming thriller author.
Christian Heinke is already working on his second work titled ›Das Herz‹ (The Heart). Some characters from his first book will play a role in it again. He revealed he will finally solve a conspiracy introduced in the first book, intensifying anticipation of the publication date next spring. (fan)
